Meet the Team

Lani De Benedictis

Manager

Lani De Benedictis
The current Ethics Office Manager is Lani De Benedictis who assumed responsibility for the office in September of 2003 following Roy Harris's retirement. From 1989 to 1994, Lani worked in Contracts and Pricing, Law Department, and the Office of Ethics & Business Practices in various corporate governance and compliance-related assignments.

In 1994, Lani managed the Rockwell International Ombudsman program and subsequently managed the Boeing Ethics Line. In those positions, she designed global ethics and compliance-training programs, advised executive management and was instrumental in the integration of the Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and Boeing North American ethics and business conduct programs.

Prior to joining JPL, from 1997 to 2003 Lani directed the Ethics and Business Conduct program for Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems business segments of Expendable Launch Systems, Homeland Security and Services, and Space and Intelligence Systems headquartered in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach, California.

Lani has an M.B.A. with an emphasis in international economics from Pepperdine University. Lani is also a member of the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association.

Karen Beas

Ethics Advisor

Karen Beas
Came to us in 2004 from JPL Employee Relations, where she partnered with the Ethics Office in resolving employee issues and investigations. She has over 20 years of Human Resources experience and has held various positions, including Director of Human Resources for a local entertainment company. In addition to the entertainment industry, Karen has worked for environmental engineering, financial and not-for-profit organizations. Karen has a B.S. in business and an M.S. in organizational leadership, both from Woodbury University.

Jane-Ann Sanders

Ethics Advisor

Jane-Ann Sanders
Jane-Ann started at JPL in 2002. As a Subcontracts Manager in the Acquisition Division, she managed Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for a wide variety of commodities. Jane-Ann also played a key role in the administration of JPL’s Purchasing Card (P-Card) Program where she interacted with the Ethics Office and other JPL organizations to resolve P-Card issues. In addition, she developed and implemented training, and advised employees on P-Card and other procurement matters. Jane-Ann has a B.S. from Brigham Young University.

Susan Guptill

Ethics Assistant

Susan Guptill
Susan joined JPL in 1993. She initially started with JPL's Business Operations Directorate within the Logistics and Technical Information Division as a logistics agent. In 2009, Susan joined the JPL Ethics Office. She continually helps to streamline the development of the business operations and office practices. She also coordinates the delivery of JPL's mandatory ethics training, Outside Business Applications (OBAs) and conflict of interest initiatives. Prior to JPL, Susan worked as an office manager and a substitute teacher. Susan has been involved with JPL's Urban Search and Rescue team for 2 1/2 years.
